In this unit you will develop skills in the use of industrial sewing machinery. This includes how to identify the best machinery for the required production of your garments/soft furnishings and how to construct different part of a garment using an overlocker, flatbed straight stitch machines, cover stitch and buttonhole/button attach machines. You will demonstrate how to thread them correctly, insert the bobbin, adjust the tension and produce a range of sewing tests and mock garments / soft furnishing.
You will gain an insight into the variety of styles for men’s and women’s tailoring, by using a range of machines and methods to produce samples in selected fabrics.
